Continuing Highway Resolution.

Continuing Highway Resolution.

Yes, we have reasons to be excited after the President signed a continuing resolution, which authorizes the transfer funding from the general fund to keep the highway trust fund solvent until September 2021. The exact figures are $10.4 billion for highways and another $3.2 billion for transit. Though good news, we as an industry should still be talking with our state DOT’s since there is concern whether there are enough funds in the state budgets to cover the required state matching funds for those federal dollars. We have all heard that state’s budget has been decimated by COVID19 response and lower than the expected gas tax due to fewer miles traveled by the public from March 2020 to the present. Keep communicating with your state DOT’s about the need to find the budget to continue a robust infrastructure program.
